In her mid 20’s, Marnie was encouraged by her mother to try yoga as means to deal with health issues, the stress she faced working in corporate sales and simply finding greater life fulfillment.
A dancer in her youth and yearning for the joy that movement brought to her life, she found her first yoga class at a dance studio in Cambridge, MA. She left class renewed, joyful and alive. .
20 years later, she utilizes the teachings, practice and healing aspects of yoga, meditation and Ayurveda as a way to manage the ebb and flow, highs and lows and imperfections of life with grace, acceptance and greater sense of balance.
She received her 200 hour yoga certification through Kim Valeri at Yogaspirit Studios in 2001 and has been teaching ever since. In 2004 she completed a 500 hour training with Barbara Benagh at The Yoga Studio in Boston.
In addition to Benagh’s Slow Flow Hatha Yoga style, she is influenced by master teachers such as Tias & Surya Little, Patricia Walden, Aadil Palkhivala and Marc St. Pierre. Marnie’s eclectic style focuses on conscious awareness of the breath, form and alignment. Her style synthesizes many techniques to improve health, facilitate relaxation and relieve stress.
She is a certified instructor in Prenatal Yoga, Postpartum/Yoga Mom, Buddha Baby and Yoga Ed. as well as trained in Stott Pilates matwork and Total Barreâ„¢. In addition, to her yoga and fitness certifications, she is also studying to become an Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor with the Kerala Ayurveda Academy under Dr. Jayarajan Kodikannath, BAMS and Dr. Suhas Kshirsagar BAMS, MD.
