About Phyllis Johnston
My name is Phyllis Johnston and I would like to share love for yoga with you. I have been practicing and studying yoga since 1987 and have had the privilege of teaching since January 2000 in Queen Anne’s County, Maryland. I am a registered yoga teacher (R.Y.T) through the Yoga Alliance. My studies have included yoga therapeutics and study of the Iyengar and Anusara styles.
I have taught yoga to children as young as 3 and adults of all ages (including some in their 80’s). I have worked with people with injuries, chronic illness and cancer as well as those free of disease or injuries.
I believe yoga is non-competitive and teach my classes in that manner. Each person works at their own pace and comfort zone. Yoga takes into account that we all are different, in fact, yoga celebrates that fact.
All poses can be modified to individual needs and each person is encouraged to listen to and know their own body. You can make each class as challenging or restful as you need. Yoga meets your needs; you don’t have to meet the expectations of yoga or a teacher.
