Samantha baker has been a student of movement her entire life, studying and teaching many forms of dance, and was introduced to yoga more than a decade ago. Her practice has taken many forms throughout the years and has been inspired by teachers around the world, but most recently she has found a stillness on her mat - an opportunity to breathe deeply, cultivate compassion, and create connection between her mind, body, and spirit. Samantha received 300 hours of training through The Bhaktishop's Foundations Teacher Training in 2017. She teaches a trauma-informed, accessible asana class, and believes that yoga should be available to everyone who seeks it. She is humbled to volunteer with Living Yoga, bringing trauma-informed yoga to correctional facilities and treatment centers, 'fostering healing and resilience in vulnerable and marginalized communities.' A forever student, Samantha is grateful for these Portland-based teachers who have and continue to shape her practice: Lisa Mae Osborne, Moncika Koneski, Danielle Hanna, Angee Franzen, and Carey Spaeth. Off of her mat, Samantha holds an MS in nonprofit management, and spends her days organizing events and fundraising, where she is reminded on a daily basis the magnitude of generosity and the power of community.
