About Carolyn Hedin
Carolyn Hedin, Founder and Director of Bluewater Yoga Studio, has been studying and practicing Yoga since 1986. She began her Yoga training with International Yoga Studies in 1997 where she was introduced to Gary Kraftsow and to the tradition of Krishnamacharya and his son TKV Desikachar. From 1998 to 2000 she was enrolled in Gary Kraftsow’s 500 hour Yoga Teacher Training Program and earned her Certificate from the American Viniyoga Institute (AVI) in 2001. Carolyn continued her studies in Yoga and Yoga Therapy with Kausthub Desikachar and his father TKV Desikachar for the next 12 years in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and India. These years added Certifications by the Krishnamacharya Healing & Yoga Foundation (KHYF) and by the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT).
It was in India that Carolyn met Radha Sundararajan, then the Director of Vedavani, the Vedic Chant department of the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Chennai. From 2013 to the present, Carolyn has studied weekly with her on Skype, and attended her seminars in Europe once or twice each year. Carolyn completed her Vedic Chant Teacher Certification through The Society of Yoga Practitioners (TSYP) in the UK in October 2019.
Registered with Yoga Alliance (YA) at the E-RYT 500 level, Carolyn continues to teach Yoga and Vedic Chanting solely in the tradition of Krishnamacharya and TKV Desikachar, and meets regularly with her Sanga of European Yoga teachers of the same tradition. She especially enjoys teaching Yoga philosophy from the classical texts Yoga Sutra-s of Patanjali and Bhagavad Gita to share the perennial wisdom and guidance that they offer everyone who wants to understand the human potential in all of life’s experiences.
